JFGA & K-VEST Improve Performance of the Incredible Manuel de los Santos

The Jason Floyd Golf Academy (JFGA) constantly strives to enhance their students’ skill sets. By integrating the latest technological advancements in their curricula, the JFGA works to improve their students’ swings in the most efficient manner possible. Through a partnership with K-VEST, the JFGA is able to capture valuable 3D swing information that can be used to design swing efficiency programs.

An extraordinary example of the JFGA’s efforts can be examined in the very unique, and inspirational, story of Manuel de los Santos.

Manuel grew up in the Dominican Republic, and his exceptional talents were leading him toward playing professional U.S. baseball. Unfortunately, Manuel lost his left leg in a motorcycle accident, thereby ending his Major League dreams. However, with great determination and a strong team of professionals from the JFGA, Manuel channeled his home-run-hitting capabilities toward a new passion: golf.

Over the past year, The Jason Floyd Golf Academy has worked with de los Santos to improve his overall performance. One of the major keys to Manuel's training curriculum is monitoring the progress of his swing efficiency with the K-VEST TPI 3D system. K-VEST allows the JFGA team to objectively track Manuel's swing efficiency improvements over a period of time as well as provide instant, real-time feedback. When evaluating a motion as unique as Manuel’s, these capabilities are invaluable in the improvement process. In addition to swing training, Manuel’s performance programs also include golf-specific workouts designed by the JFGA’s Director of Fitness, Michael Wood.

“Project Manuel is still a work in progress, and new things are being found on a regular basis,” explained Jason Floyd of The Jason Floyd Golf Academy. “Without doubt, the use of K-VEST is an integral part of the JFGA's program with Manuel. K-VEST provides the assurance that we are working in the right direction by working with the facts!”

Floyd also went on to point out that although Manuel is currently a celebrated ambassador of the JFGA, his true value is much more than that. He is truly an inspiration to us all.

Each wireless K-SENSOR is actually a package of nine, smaller sensors. Combined, these state-of-the-art sensors precisely and accurately measure the motion in 3 dimensions. In fact, the sensors are so accurate and durable, the US military deploys them for simulation training and research.
  • Precise, lightweight motion tracking sensors
  • Weigh less than 2 ounces (less than a golf ball)
  • Transmits accurate and precise 3D body motion data to a laptop receiver
  • Combination of accelerometers, gyros, and magnetometers
  • Military-grade accuracy and durability
  • Made in the U.S.A.
